ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN

GATHER INFORMATION
Archbishop Murphy High School conducts open houses in November and in January. These events are an opportunity for prospective families to become knowledgeable about the curriculum and programs offered. Students and their parents will be able to visit with the current students and faculty, as well as tour the facility.

VISIT THE SCHOOL
WHILE IN SESSION

Students seriously considering admission to Archbishop Murphy High School are encouraged to visit the school for a half or whole day. Visiting gives prospective students the opportunity to spend time with potential classmates and teachers, observe classes in action and learn more about student life at Archbishop Murphy High School.

COMPLETE THE
APPLICATION PROCESS

The completed application form, Pastor/Pastoral Life Director’s Verification form, teacher evaluation forms, and request for school records are the responsibility of the applicant and his/her parents and are to be submitted with a $25 non-refundable application fee. TAKE THE PLACEMENT EXAMINATION
All candidates applying for admission to grade 9 are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Applicants must register for the exam online by visiting the ISEE website (www.iseetest.org) or by calling (800) 446-0320.

The exam fee is $89 if registering online, and $100 if registering by phone. Families requiring financial assistance with the exam fee, or who need help with the online exam registration process, should contact AMHS for more information. Walk-in registrations are accepted at some locations on the day of the exam. Please check the ISEE website for more information. There is a walk-in fee of $30 in addition to the exam fee.

AMHS or the applicant may request an admissions interview if additional information is needed.

  

        APPLICATION PROCESS
        FOR TRANSFER STUDENTS

  • Schedule an optional campus visit at AMHS.
  • Complete the online APPLICATION FORM.
  • Complete the Pastor/Pastoral Life Director's Verification form and submit it to AMHS.
  • Submit the CONFIDENTIAL TEACHER EVALUATION FORM your current teacher. Ask him/her to complete the form and forward it directly to AMHS. NOTE: This is a common form used by several area Catholic high schools and may be photocopied for multiple use.
  • Submit the CONFIDENTIAL SCHOOL REPORT/TRANSCRIPT REQUEST to your current principal. Ask him/her to complete the form and forward it directly to AMHS. In addition, he/she should forward a copy of your official transcript or permanent record, current or previous standardized test scores, and report cards from the last two years. NOTE: This is a common form used by several area Catholic high schools and may be photocopied for multiple use. 
  • The admission process for transfer students is the same as for incoming freshmen, however transfer students are notified of acceptance in late April. Applicants for the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades are not required to take the placement exam, but should include their most recent standardized exam scores with their application.

 

     

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

AMHS is an I-20 issuing school and welcomes international students. As with all interested students, international students must complete the regular application process. In addition, these students are required to submit SLEP and/or TOEFL scores (English proficiency tests). I-20 forms will be issued only to those students who have been offered admission to AMHS. All international students will pay full tuition and fulfill all other financial obligations. AMHS is not able to provide or arrange housing for international students.
