President's Blog: Remembering Terry Ennis
Monday, September 11, 2017
"Courage is grace under pressure," Ernest Hemingway shared this sentiment as his definition of "guts" in a 1929 interview with The New Yorker. While the quote is far more eloquent, I find the term "guts" to be an appropriate word to describe Terry Ennis, who passed away ten years ago this week.

President's Blog: Traveling is one way of lengthening life.
Wednesday, March 29, 2017
I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel, not merely for pleasure, but for professional growth. Over the past few years I visited schools and universities to study programs and bring best practices and innovative strategies back to AMHS. These experiences included visits to John Paul II High School (JPII) in Lacey, WA, the University of Portland, and Providence High School in Burbank, CA. As I transitioned into the office of president last summer I was blessed to network with various heads of school including Lorcan Barnes at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, CA, Pat Lee at St. Francis High School in Watsonville, CA, and Al Falkner at Gonzaga Prep in Spokane. My exchanges of emails and phone calls with these school leaders provided me with helpful advice and ideas for our Faith and Future campaign. It was during this time, as I met with members of the board of trustees, I was invited to visit the city of Philadelphia and three Catholic high schools in and around the city.

President's Blog: A Student's Voice Amidst The Noise
Monday, November 07, 2016
Most of us can remember people in our lives who have mentored us or advised us along the way. Whether it be teachers, coaches, or members of our family, we can all point to people who have made a positive impact or inspired us to follow our dreams. At AMHS we have a tremendous community of leaders who strive to guide our students to become Christlike leaders. We are likewise blessed with amazing young men and women who often teach us life lessons. I'd like to share a story about one of our students.
