WHAT MAKES AMHS A TOP PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL?

  • AMHS

As a college preparatory school, AMHS offers a strong academic curriculum. Our small class sizes allow teachers to give students more thoughtful attention and a higher quality education. We offer a variety of advanced classes and challenge students to think critically, preparing them for college and other pursuits.

Many families today are looking outside of the public school system for a quality education. At Archbishop Murphy High School, we strive to provide strong academics and a supportive community while nurturing each child’s individual gifts.

Here is what makes AMHS stand out.

STRIVING FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

As a college preparatory school, AMHS offers a strong academic curriculum. Our small class sizes allow teachers to give students more thoughtful attention and a higher quality education. We offer a variety of advanced classes and challenge students to think critically, preparing them for college and other pursuits.

We also have an Academic Resource center that helps students with learning differences. We are committed to seeing every student succeed.

NURTURING EACH STUDENT’S TALENTS AND GIFTS

We believe is important for students to pursue their interests, whether those interests are in the arts, STEM, business, sports, or something else. At AMHS, we offer both classes and extracurricular activities to help students explore their interests and grow.

CAREER EXPLORATION

Health Studies Program

Students interested in exploring a career in healthcare are encouraged to apply to our Health Studies Program. Beginning in freshman year, these students take specialized courses with their cohort that give them a better understanding of the healthcare field.

In addition, students have opportunities to visit hospitals, volunteer, and job shadow in the local community. Students in this program also benefit from hearing from guest speakers and taking part in AMHS’s chapter of HOSA.

Business Program

Students interested in pursuing business can enter the Business Program in their freshman, sophomore, or junior years. The program aims to teach modern-day business practices and equip students to participate effectively in the day-to-day workplace.

Students take classes to understand the fields of business administration, marketing, finance, and more. Students also have opportunities to participate in business-related community service and DECA.

ARTS OPPORTUNITIES

AMHS provides many opportunities for students to explore artistic pursuits. For students looking to explore the visual arts, we offer ceramics, drawing/painting, and digital arts classes. We also hold an annual art show.

Our music opportunities include band, orchestra, and choir programs. For those interested in theater, we offer drama classes. Students enjoy performing in our annual fall play and spring musical.

SUPPORTING SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT

As a Catholic high school, we strive to provide students with a strong spiritual foundation and many opportunities to experience Christ’s presence in daily life. We encourage students to explore their relationship with God.

For the past five years, we have had a chapel where students can pray and take part in the liturgy. Students can also participate in campus ministry and retreats. Our goal is for our students to become Christlike leaders who will change the world for the better.

FOSTERING SERVICE

To encourage students to develop a spirit of service, we created our Serving People In Need program. All students are required to spend time working directly with underserved populations in our local community. During spring break, we also hold a service trip to Guatemala, where students can volunteer at an orphanage.

These opportunities help students develop compassion for others and an attitude of service. We want our students to go on to make the world a better place!

Our school works hard to provide an excellent education for all students, no matter what their interests, strengths, and challenges are. If you are interested in learning more about AMHS, sign up for a campus tour.
