SUPPORT THE ANNUAL FUND
100 percent graduation rate. 100 percent acceptance into colleges and universities. 77 percent on honor roll. 18,000 hours of service to the community. This is the measurable impact four years at Archbishop Murphy High School has on our students. But even more important is what’s not measurable: the impact of our mission on every student who walks through our halls. They take sportsmanship to the highest level. They approach community service not as an obligation, but as a privilege and act of love. And above all, they strive to embody Christ for each other. Our school mission lives in each student, and it thrives as they share it with others.
Your investment fuels our mission to offer an exceptional Catholic education to the children in our region – through high-caliber academic and co-curricular programs, vital tuition assistance for families in need, and a safe and vibrant campus. And the return on your investment is undeniable: Archbishop Murphy High School is the highest academic-achieving high school in Snohomish County.
If you believe in our mission, partner with us. No matter the amount, your gift will go far beyond our campus; it will stay with each graduate as they venture out as Christlike leaders who will transform the world. Invest in their future today.
Archbishop Murphy High School is a non-profit school and receives no financial support from local, state, or federal sources. In addition as a Tier II school Archbishop Murphy does not receive financial support from the Archdiocese of Seattle. Tuition income, charitable gifts and other fundraising activities make up the annual operating budget.
Many individuals who donate to Archbishop Murphy High School ask their employers to match their donations. This kind of corporate support makes a significant difference as it can double or triple the size of a gift to Archbishop Murphy. Please contact your employer’s human resources department to for information on matching gifts to the schools. Archbishop Murphy High School is incredibly thankful to have this support. In addition to matching gifts, many corporations may also choose to sponsor Archbishop Murphy fundraising efforts throughout the year, or engage in our Business Partners Program.
As part of our commitment to Catholic education and our desire to make Catholic education accessible, we charge tuition less than the true cost, and provide financial aid to those in need. Therefore, tuition and fees cover approximately 78% of the annual budget. This creates a need to “cover the gap” between tuition payments and the actual cost of an Archbishop Murphy High School education.
The annual budget expenses are met due to the generosity of many from these sources: the Annual Fund, Donations above Tuition, the Dream Auction, Annual Giving efforts, and the Phonathon. In addition this year we are offering people an opportunity to make a Holy Cross Commitment or Archbishop Murphy Partnership pledge as part of their annual giving.
Those families who agree to pay the true cost of education – tuition charged plus the “gap” amount – are Archbishop Murphy Partners. The Holy Cross Commitment is a program where families generously pledge to cover the gap for their student and another student on financial aid. These payments are fully tax deductible and may be paid monthly, quarterly and in one payment by cash, check or credit card. Donations Above Tuition can be for any amount over tuition yet under the true cost.
One way that we as a school partner with our parents is the enlistment of parent volunteers for a variety of events and roles at Archbishop Murphy High School. Parent volunteerism helps keep costs down and enhances the engagement of families in our community. Every family is required to contribute twenty hours a year, but many contribute much more. We could not be more blessed and grateful for the support of our families and the time they contribute. Families that fail to meet their parent hour obligation will not be allowed to register for the following year or receive transcripts.
The Annual Appeal consists of a direct mail campaign and the Phonathon/Notathon to ask you for your support in meeting Archbishop Murphy’s annual fundraising goals. Direct mail letters are sent to alumni, past parents, current parents, and friends of Archbishop Murphy High School. Donations to the Annual Appeal support the operating budget.
Capital Giving refers to gifts that are directed towards building and supporting the physical plant at Archbishop Murphy High School. Archbishop Murphy believes that high quality facilities are a means of reaching higher levels of learning.
The Endowment Fund is a permanent fund that compounds with interest and dividends. The principal is never touched and a percentage of earnings is used to support tuition assistance efforts and the annual budget. The endowment represents an investment in the future of our school, and a commitment to ensuring its long term viability and success. In addition, it ensures that Archbishop Murphy’s legacy of accessibility and affordability for qualified students remains for years to come. As of January 2012 the value of the endowment fund is approximately $1,600,000.
