📣 Alumni Spotlight: Elianna Lucas ‘15 🎓

For Elianna Lucas, her first year at Archbishop Murphy brought a new school and a new community. Coming from a small K–8 school where she had grown up with the same group of 25 classmates, high school was a chance to step into something new.

One of the first experiences that helped her find her place was a campus retreat her mom signed her up for.

“I’m so glad that she did, because that was my first introduction to campus ministry.”

The retreat gave Elianna an opportunity to meet classmates, connect with upperclassmen, and experience a community where students were encouraged to share, be honest, and be themselves.

“That is where the foundation was laid for… maybe this is something that I want to do for other people.”

Throughout her time at AMHS, teachers, mentors, and campus ministers continued to shape her. From learning how to think critically and engage in meaningful conversations to discovering confidence in subjects she once found challenging, the people around her helped her grow in ways that stayed with her long after graduation.

Then, in January 2019, Elianna returned to Archbishop Murphy. Today, as Director of Campus Ministry, she gets to foster that same sense of connection and belonging for a new generation of students.

For Elianna, the hope is simple: that students feel comfortable being themselves, know they belong, and recognize AMHS as a place they can always call home.

Her advice to her younger self reflects the same trust that has guided her own journey: be open, be receptive, and don’t be afraid of the unknown.

“God is not going to put something in your path that’s not meant to be there.”

For Elianna, that trust is rooted in prayer. Her time in the chapel has become an important part of her morning routine, a quiet moment to be with the Lord and remember the foundation of her work.

From a freshman discovering a new community to an alum who returned to help build that community for others, Elianna’s story is a beautiful reminder that the experiences we have along the way can become part of the calling God has for us.
