AMHS Community Spotlight 📣 Mike Burns: Chair of the AMHS Board of Trustees 🐾
For Mike Burns, Archbishop Murphy High School became an important part of his family’s story more than a decade ago, when he and his wife, Melissa, discovered a community that would become a meaningful part of their lives.
After attending an AMHS open house, they knew they had found something special. They chose AMHS for their children, beginning a meaningful chapter for their family, filled with friendships, activities, and community.
His message to our new families is simple:
“Get involved.”
For Mike, community is built by showing up, introducing yourself, attending events, volunteering, and encouraging students to get involved beyond the classroom.
He also reflected on what makes Archbishop Murphy different: students are known as individuals, not numbers.
He shared a story about one of his daughters during her senior year, when she was reconsidering her path for college and her future. They reached out to her counselor and received an immediate response. The counselor made time to meet with her the very next morning.
For Mike, that experience captured something important about AMHS: students have people who know them, listen to them, and are there when they need support.
“That’s just an example of not being a number as a school.”
Mike also reflected on how prepared his children were for college, not only academically, but in their ability to study, manage their time, and make commitments.
His daughters, now AMHS graduates, have each expressed how grateful they are that their parents chose Archbishop Murphy for them. His son is also part of the AMHS community, adding another chapter to the Burns family’s story.
As Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mike continues to give his time and experience to support AMHS and its community.
Thank you, Mike, for sharing your perspective and reminding us that the heart of Archbishop Murphy is found in the people, relationships, and community we build together! ❤️🤍🖤🙏

What a day for the Wildcats! ⛳️
Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the 2026 AMHS Golf Tournament at Echo Falls! Because of the incredible generosity of our golfers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners, together we raised more than $40,000 in support of AMHS Athletics and our student-athletes!
Beyond the dollars raised, it was a great day to bring together parents, alumni, coaches, friends, local businesses, and supporters who continue to show up for Archbishop Murphy High School.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who sponsored, played, donated, volunteered, and helped make this year's tournament such a success. Your support provides meaningful resources and opportunities for our student-athletes and athletic programs throughout the year.
📸 Take a look at some of our favorite moments from the course!
Thank you for continuing to invest in our students and the future of AMHS Athletics. We can't wait to do it again next year!
